The United States has issued an ultimatum for General Mikola Bardak, who holds command over the Chernarussian Armed Forces and is widely regarded as the de-facto ruler of Chernarus.

The ultimatum stipulates that Bardak and his deputies must relinquish political power back to the Chernarussian government and step down by midnight GMT, April 22, or face an immediate U.S. invasion to topple the military dictatorship.

The ultimatum was met with support from the United Nations Security Council, who unanimously agreed that Bardak’s capitulation would lead to increased stability in the region. During the U.N. gathering, the United States requested permission to use neighboring Russia as a staging point for U.S. troops before the invasion. The request was met with visible confusion from Russian ambassadors and flatly denied.

Takistan, Taiwan, and Japan have agreed to host U.S. troops in preparation for the invasion.

Following the ultimatum, the U.S. announced it would deploy its 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and 17th Ranger Battalion to the region ahead of the main forces.

“It’s only natural that we’d send in the 31st”, said a Pentagon spokesperson. “They are perfectly positioned in the region to respond to such a scenario and I have no doubt they will see the job through”

Another source said that the 17th Ranger Battalion was chosen for its immense combat experience worldwide. It was noted that the 17th participated heavily in the Balkan Thunder campaign in early 2020, where the terrain was similar to that found in Chernarus. The source believes that the 17th’s familiarity with fighting in such environments will play a key role in defeating the Chernarussian military.

The ultimatum comes after months of U.S.-imposed sanctions and the recent deployment of the U.S.’ 7th Fleet, which the U.S. says has come under attack by Chernarussian aircraft “almost daily”.

The first instance of Chernarussian aggression came 12 days ago when Chernarussian F-14s fired on American Navy F-18s unprovoked. Since then, the U.S. has intercepted 21 C.D.F. fighters and shot down 4 that were threatening U.S. Navy warships or aircraft. No American losses have been reported, however a U.S. F-18 is said to have crashlanded on the U.S.S Nimitz after snapping his wings from excessive maneuvers. The Pilot, a Texan hailing from Puerto Rico, is said to be unharmed.
